Welcome to Awhi Mai Early Learning Centre
Our Centre names have originated from Jimmy’s Whanau hapu Tumapuhia.
Kaihoata our river, and Nga Maipi e waru our Mountain.
Te Maipi is our Under 2s as our mountain stands before the river, Kaihoata is our Over 2s as from our mountain the river flows, and from that our tamariki will flow out to their own adventures.
In our Te Maipi Centre we provide a nurturing and safe environment where your little ones can explore, learn and grow. We focus on building a strong foundation for their early developement.
In our Kaihoata Centre, through engaging activities and play, we support their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Then our preschool program is designed to prepare our tamariki for school and life. We emphasize early literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills in a fun and supportive setting.

know us
We (Jimmy and Stacey Morris) are a locally owned and operated Whanau, born and raised in the Wairarapa. We have 2 girls Baylee and Maddi, that go to College here in Masterton.
Awhi Mai extends beyond the centre walls, it includes the whole Whanau. We actively work to build Whanau relationships where everyone feels welcomed, respected and valued.
Our aim is to integrate both Māori and English, to show the diversity of Aotearoa. Te reo Māori is woven into our day including korero (speech), karakia (prayers), and waiata (songs).
We embrace each tamariki ensuring they are valued, supported and encouraged to grow with confidence and strength.
We are privileged to be chosen to look after your babies and be apart of their early learning journey.
